the project
Digital application for school tickets
Stadtwerke Münster wanted to simplify the application process for student tickets for local public transport and digitalise the paper-based ordering process. The aim was to develop a user-friendly application that not only simplifies the ordering process, but also makes the authorisation process more efficient.
Together with the d.u.h.Group, the “Schülerportal” was developed – a digital platform that serves as an integral part of Mobilität Münster’s low-code strategy. Thanks to Mendix, the application was developed quickly and integrated smoothly into the existing system landscape.

“Stadtwerke Münster would like to thank the d.u.h.Group for the excellent cooperation and for driving forward the joint projects in the digitalisation of mobility services. It was helpful that d.u.h.Group reacted flexibly to new requirements and communicated proactively. This enabled smooth coordination and adaptation throughout the course of the project. We look forward to continuing to develop innovative solutions together in the future.”

Conclusion
Highlights and results: Digital efficiency and high acceptance
The biggest challenge was the digitalisation and optimisation of the school ticket application process, including seamless integration into existing systems. In addition, the transfer of existing tickets had to be ensured in order to enable an uninterrupted transition for existing customers. Coordination with over 90 schools and school authorities was crucial for a smooth introduction. After all, the system had to be ready on time for the start of the 2024/2025 school year.
Highlights and results:
- Over 2,000 tickets requested in the first month thanks to intuitive operation
- Multi-device-capable portal that can be used on desktop, tablet and smartphone
- Optimised processes through digital workflows and increased transparency
- Close cooperation with specialist departments and users for smooth implementation

technology
Low-code: Fast development, flexible customisation
The digital solution for Stadtwerke Münster was developed using Mendix, a leading low-code platform. Low-code accelerates software development by creating applications in a visually controlled development environment instead of programming them completely. This enables a more agile, efficient and flexible implementation of digital solutions.
