Development & Engineering

Calculation Engineer

As a computational engineer, you analyse, evaluate and optimise technical components, assemblies or systems using numerical methods such as FEM or CFD. You ensure that products are structurally, thermally and functionally reliable – before they are manufactured. Your contribution is crucial to quality, safety and efficiency.

Calculation Engineer

Typical tasks

01
Structural Analysis & Simulation
  • Carrying out FEM analyses (e.g. linear statics, non-linearity, dynamics, service life)
  • Analysis of load scenarios, stresses, deformations and safety factors
  • Optimisation of geometries and materials in terms of strength and weight
02Thermal and thermomechanical analysis
03Flow simulation
04Model setup & boundary conditions
05Test support & validation

Entry requirements & opportunities

Calculation Engineer

This job might be right for you if you...

  • ...have a strong technical understanding

You analyse technical issues systematically and understand how physical factors affect product behaviour.

  • ...have a strong aptitude for numbers

You recognise patterns, break down complex geometries into their basic elements and formulate precise evaluation methods.

  • ...you can work very carefully

Your results are used in safety assessments, product testing and production approvals – which is why you work with the utmost precision.

  • ...you’re quite good at teaching yourself different methods

You take a structured approach and don’t lose sight of the bigger picture, even when dealing with lots of details.
Whether you’re setting something up, checking it or analysing it – you plan your steps carefully and work systematically.
