Defence & Military Engineering
Greater payload capacity for military vehicles
Greater payload, lower weight, same operational capability: in the defence and military engineering sector, every kilogramme makes a difference to performance and range. Using topology optimisation in Altair OptiStruct and an end-to-end workflow through to additive manufacturing, existing components can be redesigned, parts can be consolidated and weight can be drastically reduced without compromising critical requirements. Results such as up to an 83 per cent reduction in mass for individual assemblies demonstrate the potential of this combination.
