From a working student app to a client project: Nam’s journey at the d.u.h.Group

When Hai Nam Do was looking for an internship back then, he had no idea that at the d.u.h.Group he would not only be taking his first steps with Mendix, but that years later he would be supervising working students himself and taking charge of client projects. Today, he is a Mendix Consultant in Saarbrücken. We asked him how it all began and what still inspires him today.
1. What was your first impression during the work placement?
Right from the very first few days, I had the feeling that I belonged here. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming; everyone was helpful, and I soon felt like I was part of not just the Mendix team, but the whole company.
2. What were your responsibilities as a working student, and what did you particularly enjoy?
Together with my mentor, I helped to further develop and maintain our internal Mendix app. The best part was that I was able to contribute my own ideas and work creatively. It was also particularly great to exchange ideas with my colleagues – there were always fascinating discussions and fresh insights.
3. When did you realise: ‘I want to stay here’?
It was the combination of great colleagues, exciting projects and real challenges that made the difference for me. I knew this was where I wanted to continue working.
4. What do you do as a Mendix developer these days, and what do you love about it?
I’m currently managing various client projects and supporting our working students at our Saarbrücken office. Every new project brings new challenges, and that’s exactly what makes it so exciting for me. But what inspires me most is when, in the end, a product is created that really helps people and is used by many.
5. What have you learnt about yourself during your time at the d.u.h.Group?
Above all, how important independence is and what it means to take responsibility.
6. You support new working students. What’s your top tip?
Stay patient and keep an open mind. Nobody learns anything new overnight. But with time, patience and an open mind, you’ll get there.
