Project: Tomorrow’s First Aiders – and we’re part of it!

With Jona and Joni on the ‘First Aiders of Tomorrow’ programme

“Helping is a strength,” is the motto of the Johanniter, who have been successfully teaching first aid to children in nurseries, kindergartens, schools and youth groups for years. They are supported in this by the hand puppets Jona and Joni. To reinforce what the children have learnt, the Johanniter have worked with K&L; Publishing House to develop an easy-to-understand colouring, activity and workbook, a poster and an app, which form key components of a teaching pack for children aged between five and eleven.
We think this is a great initiative! That’s why we’re supporting the project.

The book, which features lots of pictures to colour in, teaches girls and boys the skills they need to provide first aid in emergencies and to recognise everyday hazards at home, during leisure activities and on the road in good time. Across 44 pages, Jona and Joni recount their experiences in the world of helping others.
Using child-friendly case studies, they offer tips and advice on first aid and prevention. At the same time, teachers, nursery staff and parents can discuss the illustrations with the children and practise the skills. The app features educational videos and serves as a digital learning assessment tool. It shows children whether they have completed the tasks correctly and encourages them to work through the book in full.

Thanks to the support of many local businesses, the colouring and activity books, the posters and the app are distributed free of charge to nurseries in Bielefeld. This is an initiative we are very happy to support. Would you like to find out more about the project?
